Graduate Student

Ting Cai was born in Nanjing (P.R.China) and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fudan University, Shanghai (P.R. China). He began his graduate study at Virginia Tech in 2003 and joined Prof. Harry C. Dorn's Group in the same year. His research is mainly focused on purification, organic functionalization and reactivity studies of Trimetallic Nitride Endohedral Metallofullerenes. Derivatives of these fullerenes (eg.Gd3N@C80) are being considered as next generation MRI contrast agents.
